Why This Product

One Compound. Thousands of Applications.

Ricinoleic acid is found in virtually no other food source at significant levels. Its unique hydroxyl group gives it anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and deeply penetrating properties.

๐Ÿ’‡
Hair Growth Stimulation
Ricinoleic acid inhibits prostaglandin D2 synthase โ€” an enzyme linked to hair loss. Applied to scalp, it also improves circulation to hair follicles and thickens each hair strand.
๐Ÿฆด
Joint Pain Relief
Transdermal ricinoleic acid (via castor oil packs) has been shown in clinical trials to reduce joint pain and stiffness in osteoarthritis patients โ€” comparable to topical diclofenac gel.
๐ŸŒฟ
Anti-Inflammatory
The OH (hydroxyl) group on ricinoleic acid gives it unique anti-inflammatory activity โ€” it inhibits inflammatory prostaglandins without affecting other prostaglandins needed for normal function.
๐Ÿงด
Deep Skin Penetration
The molecular structure of ricinoleic acid allows it to penetrate all 7 layers of skin โ€” making it effective as a base for transdermal delivery of other active compounds.
๐ŸŒ™
Ayurvedic Virechana
In classical Ayurveda, castor oil (Eranda Taila) is the primary oil for Virechana (therapeutic purgation) โ€” a panchakarma treatment for deep detoxification.
๐Ÿฆ
Antimicrobial
Effective against Staphylococcus, E. coli, and Candida. Used in traditional wound care and as a base in pharmaceutical topical formulations.
Our Process

Pressing Castor Seeds Without Hexane

01
๐ŸŒฑ
Source Seeds
Castor seeds (Ricinus communis) sourced from Andhra Pradesh โ€” the world's largest castor producing state. Seeds tested for ricin content (removed in hull).
02
๐Ÿ”จ
Cold Press
Seeds are decorticated (hulled) and cold pressed at room temperature. Commercial castor oil uses hexane solvent extraction โ€” ours uses only mechanical pressing.
03
๐Ÿงน
Filter & Check
Oil filtered to remove fine particles. Checked for clarity, colour (pale yellow), and odour (faint, characteristic). No bleaching or deodorising.
04
๐Ÿงด
Glass Bottle
Bottled in dark glass with measurement markings โ€” castor oil is typically used in small measured quantities and accurate dosing matters.
How to Use

How to Use Castor Oil

๐Ÿ’‡
Scalp & Hair Treatment
Massage into scalp for 5โ€“10 minutes, leave for 30โ€“60 minutes (or overnight with a shower cap), wash out with mild shampoo. The viscosity requires 2โ€“3 wash cycles to fully remove. Use weekly for best results.
๐ŸŒฟ
Castor Oil Pack (Joint/Abdomen)
Soak a cotton flannel in warm castor oil, apply to painful joint or lower abdomen, cover with plastic wrap, apply a heat pad for 45โ€“60 minutes. Research supports this for joint pain, menstrual cramps, and digestive support.
๐ŸŒ™
Ayurvedic Internal Use
Take 5โ€“15ml mixed with warm milk or ginger tea at bedtime for constipation relief and Ayurvedic detoxification. Only under guidance for internal therapeutic use โ€” consult a practitioner.
Nutritional Profile

The Ricinoleic Acid Oil Profile

Castor oil's nutritional value as a food oil is secondary to its unique chemical composition โ€” the 90% ricinoleic acid makes it unlike any other oil in the world.

Questions & Answers

Castor Oil FAQs

Is castor oil safe? I thought castor beans are poisonous.+

Castor beans contain ricin โ€” a highly toxic protein โ€” but ricin is NOT present in cold-pressed castor oil. Ricin is water-soluble and remains in the seed meal after pressing. Castor oil has been used safely for thousands of years and is listed on the FDA's GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe) list for food applications.

What makes cold-pressed castor oil better than commercial brands?+

Most commercial castor oil is hexane-extracted โ€” a petroleum solvent used because it extracts more oil from the seed. Hexane leaves trace residues that are undesirable in a therapeutic product. Cold pressing produces less oil per kg of seed but maintains absolute purity.

Can castor oil really grow hair?+

Multiple studies support its effect on hair density through ricinoleic acid's inhibition of prostaglandin D2 synthase, which is implicated in androgenetic alopecia. While not a proven clinical treatment, the mechanism is scientifically plausible and anecdotal evidence is overwhelmingly positive.

My castor oil is very thick. Is this normal?+

Yes โ€” castor oil is the most viscous of all common plant oils due to its high ricinoleic acid content. The thick consistency is also what makes it so effective as a moisturiser and penetrating hair/skin oil. It can be mixed with coconut or sesame oil for easier application.

Can castor oil be used for eyelash and eyebrow growth?+

Yes โ€” many people use a clean mascara wand to apply a small amount to lashes and brows nightly. The ricinoleic acid content may support follicle health. Use a very small amount to avoid any getting into eyes.
